*king island beef*

whenever chairman comes into town , he will usually bring back some aussie-specialty items back to sg. one of them would be beef from king island.

King Island is an island between Victoria and Tasmania. It is well-known for its cheese, seafood and beef. Island-life is extremely evident there with heaps of animals and the beaches there are breath-taking. I've never been there but as my company flies there , i am hoping to make a trip down there sometime soon.

So anyhow, on his recent trip over , he indicated too late that he wanted the beef. our port agent there would usually buy it for him and put it on one of our flights. as there aren't any direct flights from king island to sydney , it would have to go through a few stops , hence taking sometime to reach sydney. this time round, by the time the beef reached sydney , it was too late (boss had already gone back to sg). so we split the beef amongst ourselves (had to pay of course , 2 kg of it , A$70). i decided to buy it coz i really wanted to try it straight from the island.

isn't it a massive slab?

we decided to cook steak after portioning it out (had a good 6 portions of it)....  i marinated it with just pepper and truffle salt. nothing too fancy is required for such good beef.

it was simply delicious !!!!! the gamey-taste was mouth-watering and my white-wine mushroom sauce (i know , i know, i didn't have red ,so i used white) went very well with it. yummm...... it's a must-try for beef-lovers....

and i shall never eat house-brand beef again. hee hee.....
